The Third General Assembly of the Network of Organizations for Children of Serbia – MODS – was held on November 7th 2014 in Belgrade. During this meeting the members decided that MODS will be officially registered.
The network members were welcomed by the opening speech of UNICEF director, Mr. Michel Saint-Lot, Mrs. Ivana Cirkovic, the director of the Office for Cooperation with Civil Society of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, and Mrs. Olgica Bajic, director of Association for Development of Children and Youth – Open Club.
Mr. Michel Saint-Lot said “For those who are at the center of our interest, and these are children, additional strength is required in order to hear their voices. Therefore, organization such as MODS has so much potential”.
Mrs. Ivana Cirkovic acknoweledged that MODS brings together a large number of civil society representatives who promote children’s rights and that government bodies can have MODS as relevant partner in the processes aimed at improving the public policies. Mrs. Olgica Bajic looked back on the MODS beginnings, from the adoption of joint platform of the Organizations for Children back in 2010 in Sokobanja, to the present. She emphasized MODS results which were achieved with the active support of the Secretariat operating within the Open Club since 2011 and stated that now it is the time for a new phase for MODS’ development.
