On the 19th of March 2013 the Romanian Federation for Child NGOs (FONPC) has organized a press conference entitled “Is the Romanian government ready to provide services for all the NGOs beneficiaries? “ in order to raise awareness towards the negative effects implied by the law proposal aiming to reduce by half the financial public subventions given to foundations and associations for social services.
If this law is to be ratified, the problem raised by FONPC is: do the NGOs stop providing social services, is the Romanian state able to provide social services for the 64.094 children who have benefited from the FONPC services and for the 1.602.350 children who have benefited from other 1500 NGOs?
This legitimate question needs to be considered since the Romanian state has already been in the impossibility of properly encourage the development and the sustainability of the mandatory social services provided by the NGOs.
