Having recognized the importance of the progress achieved in the Republic of Armenia during the period of 2001-2009 in the area of protection of children’s rights, the national coalition of Armenia, Child Protection Network, has welcomed the efforts of the Armenian Government, as well as the one of all the competent bodies engaged in the protection of children’s rights for the improvement of children’s welfare and creation of necessary conditions for their adequate development and self-fulfilment.
However, since problems still exist, the Alternative Report discusses those areas analyzed in the 3rdand 4th joint regular country reports on execution of the United Nations’ (UN) Convention on the Rights of the Child which need to be improved. The process of preparation of this Report was initiated by the World Vision Armenia and Child Protection Network in 2008.
The Alternative Report is the product of the joint efforts of local and international non-governmental organizations. In order to provide more consistent information to the UN Committee on Children’s Rights, all problems identified by the involved NGOs, as well as their recommendations are presented by the structure followed in Armenia’s joint regular country reports No. 3 and No. 4.
